Due to this act, Indu realises that Bahattar is a nice person and develops an affection for him. On learning about Azad, Bahattar helps Indu break him out of jail. Azad is in jail, and whenever he is released, he performs some stupid act due to which he is put back in jail. Bahattar is constantly trying to woo Indu, but she's having none of it, since she already has a boyfriend named Azad Reddy ( Rahul Singh). On reaching Mumbai, two families in the same house pretend that they are from the Police. When Mansukh comes to their doorstep with an alliance for Bahattar, he lies to them by saying that TT is the assistant commissioner of police, due to which Bahattar and his family are forced to carry on their police act. But there's one thing Mansukh doesn't know Bahattar and his family just pretend to be cops and wear fake uniforms. Even Bahattar has had tough luck in finding a bride. It is mentioned that Bahattar's brother Tehattar (73) was lost as a child. His family consists of his father Sattar Singh ( Raj Babbar), Sattar's younger brother Ikhattar Singh ( Mukesh Rishi), and their wives. Khiladi 786, a police officer from a small village Taasi in Punjab., who never lets goons get away. This groom is none other than Bahattar Singh ( Akshay Kumar), a.k.a. Jeevanlal is sure that they're going to die, but Mansukh claims that he knows a perfect groom for her. On learning that Mansukh is a match-maker, TT assigns him the task of finding a good groom for Indu, in return for letting Mansukh live. TT's goons abduct Mansukh and Jeevanlal due to the incident. Tatya Tukaram Tendulkar ( Mithun Chakraborty), who wants to get her married to a decent family.

Indu turns out to be the sister of an underworld don TTT, i.e. The car was being driven by Indu ( Asin), who intentionally scares her grooms away by taking them for a dangerous long drive, the same trick she was using when her car crashed into the tree. Jeevanlal snatches the bottle, but in the process, the bottle crashes into the windshield of a car, due to which the car crashes into a tree and stops. A depressed Mansukh pays a visit to his friend Jeevanlal Praanlal D'Costa ( Sanjai Mishra), who advises him to stop drinking, but Mansukh doesn't listen. After destroying many weddings unintentionally, Mansukh is thrown out of the house by Champak. I totally recommend this one as a kick- off to the end -of -year relaxed feeling.Champaklal Desai ( Manoj Joshi) is a successful match-maker and wedding organizer in Mumbai whose business starts going downhill when his son Mansukh ( Himesh Reshammiya) joins him. Dont look for depth and meaning and too much cleverness and yiu will be happy. Khiladi 786 is in the Golmaal mould and is sure to be a hit with the kids also. The songs are sheer kitsch and perfect for the movie. Himeshbhai is in fine fettle with the music. The second half is not as funny nor as fast paced but by then you are in a super mood and happy to go along with the proceedings. Akshay has a proven flair for the comic which he exploits, and the rest of the cast including Mithun and Raj Babbar add to the hilarity. The laughs come at a pace which match Akshay's knock out punches and leave you giggling madly. This situation leads to a first half which is hysterically funny. They are all trying to gain respectability through marrying into the Police force.

Of course, the catch is no one knows the other party is a thug family. Asin won't get married till boyfriend is out, Akshay can't get married coz no one wants a thug as a husband and Himeshbhai tries to break the jinx on his luck by getting them together. Himeshbhai is a marriage fixer thrown out by his dad as a failure. Asin is the daughter of a big time bhai in Mumbai with a boyfriend in jail. Akshay plays a thug from Punjab who hijacks trucks carrying smuggled goods and then splits the loot with the Punjab police. But then the movie gathered steam and how! The story rapidly develops. Akshay even looked like he was aping Salman in the police uniform. And I cringed a bit.

Tacky, outdated credits with a Dabanng hangover song playing. The beginning of the movie did not promise much.

So, it was wearing my most cynical expression that I landed up a the theatre at 9am and prepared to be assaulted by gibberish. Also, am not overly fond of Akshay Kumar. I had completely missed the promotions and publicity for Khiladi 786. Review Khiladi 786 & earn 20 DM Points.* Review Submit
